Lawyer for the National Cathedral project, Charles Owusu Juanah defends why the National Cathedral must not be stopped by NDC Gov’t

Charles Owusu Juanah, Esq., lawyer for the National Cathedral project, defended the cathedral’s continuation under the new NDC government.

Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, he argued that even if a ministry were found to have misused funds, you don’t shut down the entire ministry, you hold the individuals accountable.

According to him, the Cathedral is not merely a political initiative, but a legally independent and sacred undertaking structured under the Companies Act.

Juanah emphasized that dissolving the Cathedral Board would require a court order, not a simple government directive.

He also pushed back hard on allegations of financial mismanagement: he described the use of a Deloitte management letter by critics as misleading, noting that the full audit contained no accusations of embezzlement.

He closed by appealing for unity among Christians and reminding the public of the Cathedral’s deeper purpose: “This is not a monument to a government,” Juanah said, “but a national altar rooted in faith, law, and vision.”
