GAF Resumes Recruitment in Greater Accra with New Centres With Batches After El-Wak Tragedy

The Ghana Armed Forces has announced that its suspended recruitment exercise in Greater Accra will resume on Thursday, November 20, 2025, under strict new safety measures. In a press release issued today, the military confirmed that applicants will be screened in controlled batches of 600 at eight sub-centres spread across five locations, including El-Wak Stadium, Nicholson Park at Burma Camp, the Air Force Base at Burma Camp, TRADOC in Teshie, and the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

The decentralisation follows the tragic stampede at El-Wak Stadium on November 12, which left six dead .To restore public confidence, the GAF has replaced the Greater Accra recruitment team and pledged accountability through an ongoing Board of Inquiry.

Applicants will receive SMS notifications with their reporting dates and centres, while helplines have been provided for those who do not receive messages.

The GAF’s decentralisation strategy marks a significant shift in how recruitment is conducted, aiming to restore public confidence while ensuring the safety of applicants.
