Anglican church of Ghana backs fight against Galamsey, Urges members to help sanitize the physical environment

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Internal Province of the Anglican Church of Ghana and the Bishop of Asante Mampong Anglican Diocese Most. Rev. Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith has said that the Anglican church are in the support if Government in the fight against illigal mining that is destroying our physical environment and the water bodies.
He then on behalf of the Anglican Church of Ghana call on leadership of the country to take steps to ensure that all efforts are made to ensure environmental security and safety for all citizens. The pollution of our water bodies and forests reserve must be prevented. He challenge all citizenry especially Anglican’s to desist from destroying the environment created by God because of greed.
Most. Rev. Kobina Ben-Smith call on Chiefs and leaders in the local communities to desist from giving out lands for this evil purpose. The Anglican Church applaud government for the recent steps taken and wish to encourage it to do more in the fight and to keep up the momentum in bringing a lasting solution to the menace.
The Church wish to plead with Government to relook at the modalities for the granting of lands for the purpose of mining in the country. He then called in President John Dramani Mahama to sack any government official who involved in galamsey.
Most Rev. De. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith made this call at Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti during its 4th Provincial Synod of the Internal Province of Ghana with the theme Reigniting Oneness in Mission, Ministry and Presence in the Ghanaian Anglican Context He then charged members of the church to come together to spread the word of God and to win more souls for the church.
Bishops, Canons and Lay Reps from every Diocese from the country attended the Synod. Nananom from Nsuta and Kwamang Traditional Areas were there to grace the opening ceremony.
