“Better & Bigger venue next year” Serwaa Amihere must apologize for her disrespectful closing remarks to Ashanti Region – Fante Quoo

Fante Quoo, host of Kessben Drive on Kessben FM, has called on media personality Serwaa Amihere to apologize for what she described as “disrespectful” closing remarks made during the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards held at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Hall at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

During her closing speech as co-MC of the prestigious event, Serwaa Amihere reportedly stated that “next year, the awards will be held at a better and bigger venue.” The comment, which appeared to suggest that the current venue was inadequate, has sparked widespread debate within the media fraternity and among the public.

Fante Quoo expressed her displeasure during her radio program, emphasizing that Amihere’s words were inappropriate given the significance of the venue,  located within the seat of Asante tradition and under the auspices of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“You don’t make such remarks at Manhyia Palace. It’s not only disrespectful to the organizers but also to the Asante Kingdom. Even if the hall was small, that was not the right time or place to say that,” Fante Quoo remarked.

She further urged Serwaa Amihere to issue a public apology to both the GJA and the Manhyia Palace, stating that such humility would preserve her professional image and uphold respect within the industry.

The GJA Awards, which celebrate excellence in journalism, drew several high-profile guests and dignitaries. While the event was largely successful, the controversy surrounding Amihere’s comments has overshadowed some of the evening’s highlights.

As of now, Serwaa Amihere has not publicly responded to the criticism or issued a statement regarding her remarks.
