ESPA Suspends Planned Strike Action Following Government Talks

The Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) has urged its members to suspend their planned nationwide strike action, following talks with the government.

In a press statement, ESPA Executive Secretary, Ama Ofori Antwi, announced that the government, through the Minister for Local Government and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Ahmed, has assured the association of its commitment to settle outstanding payments owed to service providers.

The government has invited ESPA for dialogue to discuss sustainable policy and funding mechanisms for the waste management sector. ESPA has agreed to suspend the strike, originally scheduled to take effect on November 7, 2025, to allow negotiations to continue.

“We strongly advise that members continue their normal operations in spite of the daunting challenges as leadership works closely with the government to reach a firm and mutually beneficial resolution of the impasse,” Ama Ofori Antwi said.

ESPA appreciates the patience and cooperation of its members and remains committed to protecting their interests and ensuring efficient waste management services in Ghana .
