They now show raw waist beads, They are killing us with indecent dressing – Adum shop operators lament over ladies’ fashion trend

Shop operators in Adum, the busy commercial heart of Kumasi, have expressed deep concern over what they describe as the growing trend of indecent dressing among young ladies in town.

Speaking on Kessben Drive with Fante Quoo, a trader known as Chicharito lamented that the open display of raw waist beads and revealing outfits has become increasingly common, turning into what he called “a worrying norm.”

According to Chicharito, many traders and shop owners find the situation disturbing, especially as the practice is no longer limited to nightlife or social events but has become part of everyday street fashion. “They are killing us with indecent dressing in town. You can’t even focus on your work sometimes because of how some ladies dress. It has become normal for them to show their raw waist beads and expose parts that should be covered,” he said.

Other shop operators echoed similar sentiments, calling on traditional leaders, parents, and the media to help promote modesty and cultural values among the youth.

Chicharito noted that while fashion is a form of expression, it should not cross the line of decency or offend public sensibilities.
