NPP General secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong reveals the real galamseyers & enablers are in NDC

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has charged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the primary offender and facilitator of illicit mining, or galamsey, throughout the nation.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, November 5, Mr. Kodua Frimpong claimed that it is now clear to Ghanaians that members of the NDC, as well as party executives at different levels, are heavily involved in illicit mining operations.
On the galamsey fight, the jury is out there, and it is very clear to the people of Ghana that the real galamseyers and enablers of galamsey are in the NDC. From their Members of Parliament to party executives from national to branch levels, they have taken over almost all the galamsey sites in the country and are mining so irresponsibly and with impunity,” he said.
The NPP General Secretary also claimed that certain illegal miners connected to the NDC had even attacked military officers stationed to carry out anti-galamsey operations.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong bemoaned the negative effects of illicit mining on the environment, pointing out that the country’s water security situation has gotten worse due to the closure of several water treatment facilities due to rising turbidity levels in large rivers.
He reiterated the NPP’s willingness to back the government’s attempts to stop the threat and acknowledged the seriousness of the illegal mining situation.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong emphasized that the NPP plans to act responsibly and prioritize the national interest before partisan politics, in contrast to the NDC when in opposition.
