NPP Accuses Mahama Government of State-Sponsored Witch Hunt Against Former Officials

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has leveled accusations against the Mahama government, alleging that it is engaged in a state-sponsored witch hunt against former government officials. NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua made this known at a press conference, claiming that the government’s actions are undermining democracy and abusing power.
Allegations of Politically Motivated Investigations
The NPP alleges that the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) is being used to target former officials of the Akufo-Addo administration, subjecting them to harassment and intimidation. According to Kodua, these investigations are politically motivated and intended to silence critics of the government.
“The NPP will not be intimidated. We will continue to stand for fairness, accountability, and the rule of law,” Kodua emphasized, reaffirming the party’s commitment to defending democratic principles and protecting the rights of its members.
Call for Respect for the Rule of Law
The NPP is urging the government to respect the rule of law and allow former officials to cooperate with investigations without being subjected to harassment or intimidation. Kodua warned that the government’s actions threaten the foundations of democratic governance and undermine public confidence in the country’s democratic institutions.
In a related development, the NPP has expressed confidence in its ability to return to power, with Kodua stating that the party will surely return to power in December 2028. This assertion underscores the party’s commitment to its principles and its determination to reclaim the people’s mandate.
