Foreign Affairs Ministry Launches Architectural Design Competition for Ghana House

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the launch of the Ghana House Architectural Design Competition, in collaboration with the Ghana Institute of Architects. This competition aims to select the most iconic, green, and creative architectural design for Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Objective
The objective of the competition is to design a standard Ghana House that depicts the country’s unique history, identity, heritage, and culture. The design should be environmentally sustainable and serve as a symbol of Ghana’s presence abroad.
Competition Details
Eligibility: The competition is open to all Ghanaian architects and architectural firms in good standing with the Ghana Institute of Architects.
Timeline:
Competition launch: November 6, 2025
Registration opens and closes: November 7, 2025
Deadline for receiving requests: November 10, 2025
Judging of submissions: December 4-5, 2025
Declaration of winners: December 15, 2025
Prizes: The best three winning designs will receive prizes, with the winning designs being made public.
Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria for the competition will be outlined in the Competition Brief, which will be published on the official website of the Ghana Institute of Architects.
Administration
The competition will be administered by the Ghana Institute of Architects, with an independent panel of judges scrutinizing the submissions.
This competition is part of the Ministry’s Strategic Transition from Renting to Infrastructure Development (STRIDE) Initiative, aimed at reducing reliance on rented facilities for diplomatic missions abroad.
