Popular Ghanaian DJ and Kessben FM presenter, DJ KA has shared an exciting experience from his recent trip to the United States, where he was surprisingly invited to perform a Highlife song during a church service.
Speaking in an interview with Fante Quoo on Kessben FM, DJ KA recounted how the congregation enthusiastically embraced his performance, dancing and singing along to the rich rhythms of Ghana’s signature Highlife sound.
“I was asked to perform a Highlife song in church in the USA, and to my surprise, they jammed to it,” DJ KA said with a smile. “It was amazing to see people, both Ghanaians and foreigners, vibing to authentic Ghanaian music even in a church setting.”
He noted that the moment reaffirmed his belief that Highlife music transcends boundaries, connecting people across cultures and generations.
DJ KA added that Ghanaians abroad still hold on strongly to their musical roots, and moments like this show the global appeal of Ghana’s traditional sounds.
