NPP Flagbearer Race: Party Chairman, GS & co must be neutral & stop open endorsement of candidates – Solomon Amankwah
The Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Odotobri Constituency, Solomon Amankwah, has called on national and regional executives of the party to remain neutral in the ongoing flagbearer race.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Democracy Political Show, Mr. Amankwah emphasized that key party officials, particularly the General Secretary, National Chairman, and National Organizer, have a duty to uphold fairness and unity within the NPP as the flagbearer contest intensifies.
According to him, these top executives must not openly or secretly endorse any particular candidate, stressing that their neutrality is crucial to maintaining party cohesion and confidence among delegates.
He further cautioned that any perception of bias from the party’s leadership could create division and mistrust.
Mr. Amankwah urged delegates to vote based on conviction and competence, rather than external influence, adding that the NPP’s strength lies in its democratic values and respect for internal competition.
The NPP is currently gearing up for its flagbearer election, a key step toward selecting a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s candidate for the next national elections.
