NACOC Warns Drug Traffickers of Severe Punishments

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has issued a stern warning to drug traffickers across Ghana, emphasizing that severe penalties await anyone caught engaging in illegal substance activities. According to Lawyer Twum Barimah, Deputy Director General of NACOC speaking exclusively to Kessben Maakye host Kojo Preko Dankwah said, individuals involved in the trade of illicit drugs, including cocaine, cannabis, and heroin, must stop immediately or face prosecution, license revocation, and other legal consequences.

Crackdown on Illicit Drug Sales
NACOC has already shut down at least six pharmacies found selling illicit drugs illegally. The commission will notify the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, which will then take steps to revoke or suspend the operating licenses of offendingqq pharmacies.

Warning to Businesses
Barimah urged all businesses and individuals involved in illegal drug activities to stop immediately. He warned that pharmacy owners or warehouse operators caught harboring or distributing illegal substances will face official action, including revocation of their business licenses and regulatory sanctions.

Ongoing Fight Against Illicit Drugs
NACOC is committed to monitoring, investigating, and prosecuting offenders to the fullest extent of the law. The commission’s warning serves as a clear message that illegal drug activities will not be tolerated.

Government’s Commitment
The government is reaffirming its commitment to public health, safety, and strict regulatory enforcement. NACOC’s actions demonstrate the government’s determination to protect its citizens from the harm caused by illicit drugs.
