World Gary Day” Marked – Celebrating 50 Years of Grace and Impact

The 30th of October marks the birthday of one of Ghana’s most decorated and celebrated lawyers, Gary Nimako Marfo, Esq. It is, without doubt, one of the most special days on the calendar of members of the learned profession. Even more remarkable is 30th October 2025, which commemorates the golden jubilee of his birth.

I dare say, if you are looking for that lawyer in Ghana who truly embodies the ethos, discipline, and scholarship of the legal profession, your search would likely end with Gary Nimako Marfo. It is no coincidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) found him worthy to serve as the Party’s first Director of Legal Affairs.

Today, as the Party faces significant challenges in opposition—ranging from political persecution and internal divisions to state-sponsored intimidation and tyranny—the Gary Nimako-led Legal Directorate has risen to the occasion. It continues to provide much-needed comfort, direction, and confidence to the Party’s rank and file. Indeed, Gary’s stewardship of the NPP Legal Directorate has been nothing short of stellar.

“King Gary,” as you are affectionately called, I must say that every one of your birthdays is a treasured gift to all of us who have had the privilege of sharing in your journey. Each celebration of your life serves as a poignant reminder of what it means to be a true patriot — a hardworking and dedicated member of the great NPP.

It is always a delight to identify with your distinguished personality — in law, in politics, in governance, and beyond. May you continue to be the finest lawyer the world looks up to — an embodiment of inspiration and a testament to the capabilities of lawyers in managing both party and national affairs.

May generations yet unborn learn from your selflessness, humility, and dedication to country and party. As you turn 50 today, I am pleased to join the rest of the world in celebrating your remarkable life. Indeed, your 50 years have been years of grace, accomplishment, and impact.

May Almighty God grant all your heart’s desires and continue to overwhelm you with His boundless blessings and favour.
