Weija-Gbawe MP is Clueless and Empty – NDC Communications Officer Fires Back

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Patrick Asford Boadu, has launched a sharp response to comments made by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, describing the MP as “confused, clueless and empty” regarding development matters in the constituency.

This follows remarks by the MP during an interview on Rainbow Radio and other media platforms, where he alleged that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, had refused to collaborate with him on development initiatives because the MP defeated him in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

Speaking in reaction, Mr. Boadu questioned the basis of the MP’s claims, challenging him to mention even one development project he initiated that required the MCE’s collaboration.

“If Jerry Ahmed says the MCE has refused to collaborate on projects, then he should be bold enough to mention those projects,” Mr. Boadu said.

“When he became Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP, his own party members did not collaborate with him. He rather forced the then MCE, Mr. Emmanuel Danquah, to front some Assembly projects while he took credit to boost his political image.”

Mr. Boadu cited projects such as the Borla Road, Djanman Junction Road, and the Oblogo New Site Drainage as examples of initiatives that were politicized under the MP’s tenure but remain incomplete.

“Why did he not complete these projects when his party was in power? That is the real question,” he stressed.

The NDC Communications Officer further accused the MP of prioritizing media showmanship over serious parliamentary work.

“Instead of focusing on his core responsibilities as a Member of Parliament, Jerry Ahmed Shaib has become known for propaganda and needless confrontations in Parliament,” Mr. Boadu stated.

He also urged the MP to take a cue from previous working relationships in the constituency.

“Even under his own party’s government, MCEs such as Hon. Patrick Kumor and Hon. Emmanuel Danquah worked with former MPs like Hon. Rosemond Comfort Abrah and Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah without claiming that collaboration was being denied,” he noted.

Mr. Boadu emphasized that the current MCE, Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, remains focused on delivering development, good governance and responsive leadership.

“The MCE is actively coordinating development across the municipality. He will not be distracted by publicity-seeking theatrics,” he concluded.
