JUST IN: Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik donates GHC 10,000 to Mankranso SHS after reaching Semifinals of NSMQ & assures lab renovation
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Ahafo Ano South West District, Abubakar Sedik, made a cash donation of GHC 10,000 to Mankranso Senior High School after the school made history by reaching the finals of the National Science & Maths Quiz for the first time.
With the DCE’s donation, the school is now better positioned to support the team’s preparation, reward the participants and further boost science teaching and learning in the school.
Beyond the cash gift, Mr Sedik made a strong commitment: following a recent broadcast by Kessben TV highlighting the deteriorating condition of the school’s science laboratory, he pledged to lead a full renovation of the lab to bring it up to standard.
The students expressed gratitude for the DCE’s intervention. The headmaster of the school, Issah Ibrahim, in an early interview with Kessben TV, said the current lab had been long overdue for refurbishment, with worn-out benches, outdated equipment and insufficient reagents.
The renovation, once done, will make a significant difference to practical science teaching.
With the DCE’s backing, the hope is that this will mark the beginning of sustained investment in science education in the district.
