NPP Amnesty for former members: Those who want to go back to the cemetery can go but not some of us – Boabeng Asamoah
The NPP apparently extended an olive branch to former members who left the party, inviting them back into the fold. But in an unmistakably firm statement, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, now the General Secretary of the newly-launched United Party (UP), has rejected the overture outright, insisting he will not return.
In recent days, party sources say the NPP has signaled it is open to amnesty and reintegration for members who departed during the formation of the United Party under Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen. But Buaben Asamoah made clear that for him, there is no going back.
Buaben Asamoah accused the NPP leadership of losing sight of its founding ideals of service, integrity, and human-centered politics. He maintained.
The United Party (UP) itself is positioning as a fresh alternative, seeking to challenge the longstanding dominance of both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Its leadership argues that the breakaway from the NPP represents a matter of principle rather than grievance
