Trade Minister Engages with Pan-African Parliament Delegation
A Six -member delegation from the Pan-African Parliament on Monday, October 27, 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in Accra.
Receiving the delegation, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare emphasized her ministry’s commitment to facilitating seamless trade across Africa, noting that the continent represents a potential market of 1.3 billion people.
The Minister further disclosed that her ministry will soon extend invitations to West African trade ministers to engage and explore ways to harmonize trade policies and standards within the sub-region. She added that this engagement will eventually be broadened to include all African trade ministers to chart a common path toward enhancing trade across the continent.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare also indicated that Ghana is currently developing a draft Agribusiness Industry Policy, with ongoing stakeholder consultations to fine-tune the document before it is presented to Parliament. She noted that as the host country of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Ghana remains committed to promoting harmonization and standardization of trade across all levels on the continent.
The delegation, led by Hon. Rodney Cloete of Namibia, is in the country to assess the implementation of the AfCFTA Guided Trade Initiative (GTI) and to engage relevant stakeholders, including the AfCFTA Secretariat, on collaboration between the Pan-African Parliament and member states to strengthen intra-African trade.
