Kwabena Owusu Dankwah (KOD) commends Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu for directive to use local language to teach at lower primary

Co-host of Kessben Maakye on Kessben FM, Kwabena Owusu Dankwah (KOD), has praised the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, for his recent directive to promote the use of local languages as the medium of instruction from Lower Primary 1 to 3.
According to KOD, the policy is a step in the right direction toward improving understanding, literacy, and cultural identity among young learners. He emphasized that children grasp concepts better when taught in a language they understand, and this initiative will help strengthen the foundation of education in Ghana.
“This is a commendable move by the Minister. When children start learning in their mother tongue, they develop confidence and a stronger connection to their cultural roots,” KOD remarked during the Kessben Maakye morning show.
He further urged teachers, parents, and educational stakeholders to support the policy’s implementation to ensure its long-term success.
