Special court for corruption won’t go anywhere, What we need is political will – Dr. Simon Boateng

Dr. Simon Boateng, a lecturer and the Deputy Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Atwima Constituency, has expressed skepticism about the proposed establishment of a special court to handle corruption and institutional infractions under National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
Speaking on Kessben TV, Dr. Boateng stated that such a move “won’t go anywhere” if the fundamental issue of political will is not addressed.
According to him, the fight against corruption in Ghana has never been about a lack of institutions or legal frameworks. Rather, it is about the consistent failure of leaders to enforce existing laws without fear or favor.
He noted that creating yet another court will only add to the long list of anti-corruption mechanisms that have proven ineffective due to weak enforcement and political interference.
“What we need,” Dr. Boateng emphasized, “is not another special court, but the genuine political commitment to end corruption, no matter who is involved.”
He urged political leaders across all parties to demonstrate integrity and accountability by allowing state institutions to function independently.
