Progressive Alliance of Ghana Mourns Passing of Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The Progressive Alliance of Ghana (PAG) has extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of Ghana. The PAG described her as a champion of women’s rights and a pillar of public activism who left an indelible mark on Ghana’s history.
A Trailblazer’s Legacy
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 76, after a short illness. She was a pioneering figure in Ghanaian politics and social advocacy, known for her tireless efforts to promote women’s empowerment and social development. Through the 31st December Women’s Movement, she mobilized and empowered women across the country, providing them with the tools to generate income, participate in community leadership, and engage in national decision-making ².
Condolence Message
The PAG’s condolence message, signed by Chairman Professor Thaddeus Ulzen, prays for the repose of her soul and acknowledges her contributions to Ghana’s development. The message reads: “May the almighty give her rest.” The party’s executive board and members join the body politic of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ghanaians from all walks of life in mourning the loss of this remarkable woman.
Celebrating a Life of Service
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was a trailblazer in every sense, becoming the first woman to run for President of Ghana in 2016. Her legacy extends beyond her role as First Lady, as she dedicated her life to promoting women’s rights, education, and healthcare. Her passing marks the end of an era, but her impact will be felt for generations to come.
