NDC has always been smart in shifting attention from the bad economy & pressing issues like Galamsey by witch-hunting past officials – Dr Simon Boateng

Dr. Simon Boateng, a lecturer at AAMUSTED and the NPP’s Deputy Secretary for the Atwima Constituency, has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberately shifting national attention from pressing issues by targeting former government officials.
Speaking on Kessben TV with KOD, Dr. Boateng claimed that the NDC has a long-standing strategy of using what he described as “witch-hunting tactics” to avoid accountability on matters such as the struggling economy and illegal mining (galamsey).
“NDC has always been smart in shifting attention from the bad economy and pressing issues like Galamsey by witch-hunting past officials. The same is happening now,” he stated.
Dr. Boateng’s comments come at a time when political tensions are high, with both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition NDC trading accusations ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He argued that instead of addressing the real issues affecting Ghanaians, such as inflation, job creation, and the destruction of lands due to illegal mining, the NDC prefers to “drag names from the past” to stir public emotions and deflect scrutiny.
The NDC is yet to respond to these claims, but the party has consistently maintained that its calls for investigations into past officials are based on a commitment to transparency and justice.
