Confidence in the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia continues to grow within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party’s Dormaa West Constituency Chairman, Kwame Owusu, has declared that the NPP flagbearer’s calm demeanor and unifying leadership style clearly demonstrate that he is destined for victory in the upcoming elections.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the Dormaa West Constituency as part of his Bono Region campaign tour, Mr. Owusu commended the former Vice President for his patience, humility, and maturity in handling political attacks. He said Dr. Bawumia’s focus on unity rather than confrontation distinguishes him as a true statesman.
“Everything indicates that Dr. Bawumia is poised to win. This is evident in his conduct throughout the campaign—he does not respond to insults because he understands the greater responsibility of uniting everyone after the elections,” Mr. Owusu stated.
The constituency chairman recalled that party morale was low before Dr. Bawumia’s election as flagbearer ahead of the 2024 polls, but credited him with reviving the spirit and enthusiasm of NPP supporters nationwide.
“If we are to be truthful, before Dr. Bawumia was elected as flagbearer, the party was in disarray. I believe we would not have secured more than 20 percent of the votes had the elections been held at that time,” he said.
Mr. Owusu also praised the NPP’s national executives for organizing an early congress, noting that the decision has provided Dr. Bawumia with ample time to mobilize support and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the elections.
“We also want to thank the party’s leadership for organizing an early congress. This will give him enough time to prepare and campaign effectively,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia’s Bono Region tour is part of a nationwide campaign to engage with grassroots members, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders as the NPP intensifies its preparations for the 2024 general elections.
