It’s clear discrimination, Gov’t supports Islamic projects financially but the people react acrimoniously to Christian ones – Lawyer for National Cathedral, Charles Owusu Juanah

The lawyer representing the National Cathedral project voiced strong concerns over what he described as religious discrimination in government funding policies.

Charles Owusu Juanah speaking on Kessben TV’s Punch show with Wofa Kofi Appiah pointed out that while Islamic projects receive financial support from the government, Christian-related initiatives, such as the National Cathedral, often encounter resistance and acrimonious public debate.

He argued that this disparity is not coincidental but likely influenced by political considerations. He suggested that the government’s differential treatment of religious projects reflects a political twist designed to marginalize Christian causes, despite their significance to a large portion of the population.

Highlighting the government’s backing of Islamic projects as a benchmark, the lawyer called for equal and fair treatment of Christian initiatives, emphasizing that such impartial support is essential to promote national unity and religious harmony.

He urged stakeholders and the public to recognize these patterns and advocate for consistency in the government’s approach to supporting religious infrastructure, regardless of faith affiliation.
