On Friday, 17th October 2025, Methodist University Ghana (MUG) celebrated a significant academic milestone with the 26th Matriculation Ceremony for the August 2025/2026 cohort. The event, held at the university’s Tema Campus, marked the formal induction of 1,058 new students into the MUG academic community, affirming the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence, morality, and service.
This year’s matriculation saw a diverse group of students, registering for various undergraduate and postgraduate programs across the university’s campuses in Dansoman, Tema, and Wenchi. Out of the 1,649 applications received, 1,080 students were admitted to MUG, showcasing the university’s role as a leading institution in the region.
The ceremony kicked off with a heartfelt address by MUG’s Vice Chancellor, Professor William Baah Boateng, who welcomed the fresh students on behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Staff, Alumni, and existing students. In his address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of the matriculation event, reminding students that it was not just a ceremonial occasion, but the official commencement of their academic journey at MUG.
“Matriculation is not just about receiving admission into the university; it is about embracing the responsibility to uphold the university’s values of Excellence, Morality, and Service,” Professor Baah Boateng noted. He further underscored the significance of the Matriculation Oath, which the new students took, binding them to abide by the rules, regulations, and ethical standards of the institution.
