41st Annual Farmers Day Celebration Launched in Accra

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has officially launched the 41st Annual Farmers Day Celebration in Accra, with this year’s event scheduled to be hosted in the Volta Region. The celebration aims to honor the contributions of Ghana’s farmers and boost productivity across the sector.

Celebrating Farmers in the Volta Region

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, emphasized that the event was carefully planned to celebrate farmers in the Volta Region, motivating them to continue their vital role in national development. He highlighted a newly introduced research program aimed at packaging vegetables like kontomire and garden eggs for long-term preservation and use.

Call for Media Support

The minister appealed to the media to actively engage in agribusiness promotion and spread goodwill messages to the public. He encouraged the media to play a key role in promoting the agricultural sector and highlighting the importance of farmers’ contributions to the nation’s food security.

Volta Regional Minister’s Gratitude

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the 2025 edition of the Farmers Day celebration. He acknowledged the resilience of farmers in the region despite challenges such as unpredictable weather patterns, pests, and diseases that affected production last year.

The Volta Regional Minister urged the government to continue supporting farmers with capacity-building initiatives, farm inputs, and market facilities to enhance their productivity and sustain their vital role in national development.
