The least said about Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the better, they are in China lying to them about Ghana – Dr Kwasi Kyei

New Patriotic Party’s Communications Director for the Ashanti Region has launched a sharp critique against Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister.

Dr. Kyei accuses Ablakwa of spinning false narratives in China about Ghana’s status under the John Dramani Mahama administration. The core of his attack: Ablakwa continues to claim that since being sworn in, Mahama has “fixed everything” or that problems have been solved, assertions Dr. Kyei says are untrue and irresponsible.

Ablakwa, while in China, assured investors and observers that President Mahama had made substantial progress and infrastructurally. He is also quoted saying, “since assuming the presidency, he is fixing all the problems he inherited…. He has fixed the economy, and only a few days ago, he has also fixed football.”

Dr. Kwasi Kyei rejects these claims severely. In his estimation, they are misleading to foreign partners and paint a rosy picture at odds with what people in Ghana are experiencing. Kyei argues that many challenges—ranging from inflation, infrastructure decay, to service delivery- remain unresolved. To him, the discourse coming out of China misrepresents the reality on the ground.

Meanwhile, Ablakwa and the Foreign Affairs Ministry have pointed to several initiatives since February 2025: passport reforms, welfare of Ghanaians abroad, efforts to protect foreign investments, and other diplomatic engagements.
