The Unrest in Sampa: Former NPP PC Hon. Enock Nyarko calls for urgent Government intervention

Sampa, a town in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, is currently grappling with serious unrest that has left residents living in fear and fleeing their homes. In a troubling turn of events, many citizens have reportedly sought refuge across the border in the Ivory Coast, as the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate.

Banks and key institutions in Sampa have shut down completely, bringing economic activity in the town to a standstill. The growing tension has raised alarm among stakeholders and local leaders, with urgent calls for national-level intervention.

Speaking on Kessben FM, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Jaman North, Hon. Enock Nyarko, expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis. He warned against relying solely on traditional leadership structures to mediate the situation, stating that any involvement by the chieftaincy could be seen as biased or aligned with one faction.

“If chieftaincy takes up a mediation role, they could take sides. Therefore, I urge the presidency and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to get involved personally to bring peace to Sampa,” Hon. Nyarko stated.

As tension remains high, citizens and observers alike are looking to the central government for swift and decisive action to restore calm, ensure the safety of residents, and reopen vital institutions in the area.
