NPP Flagbearer race: Let’s stop the politics of ‘I’m the richest because it’s not your money that you’re going to use to develop the country – Hon Sam Pyne

Former Kumasi Mayor, Hon Sam Pyne, has cautioned against what he describes as the growing trend of “money-centered” politics in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Hon. Pyne criticized the narrative where some aspirants and their supporters tout their wealth as a qualification for leadership, stressing that the development of the country is not dependent on personal riches.

“Let’s stop the politics of ‘I’m the richest’ because it’s not your personal money that you’re going to use to develop the country,” he said.

He emphasized that leadership should be based on vision, competence, and the ability to mobilize national resources, not on how much an individual has in their bank account.

Hon. Pyne further warned that this kind of rhetoric could mislead the grassroots and shift focus away from the real issues that matter in choosing the party’s next leader.
