Legal Aid Commission appeals to the public to help set up offices in every district

Lawyer Kingsley Botwe, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Officer of the Ashanti Regional Legal Aid Commission, has made a passionate appeal to the general public and stakeholders to support efforts to establish Legal Aid offices in every district across Ghana.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Lawyer Botwe highlighted the increasing demand for legal support among vulnerable and low-income citizens who cannot afford legal representation. He noted that while the Legal Aid Commission continues to play a vital role in providing free legal services, access remains limited in many parts of the country due to the absence of district-level offices.
“The Legal Aid Commission is calling on the general public, especially philanthropists, corporate bodies, and local authorities, to support the setting up of offices in every district,” he said. “We want to bring legal services closer to the people, especially in rural and underserved communities.”
Lawyer Botwe stressed that expanding the Commission’s presence will not only improve access to justice but also promote peace through mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
He reiterated that justice should not be a privilege for the wealthy but a right for every Ghanaian, regardless of their financial status. He urged the public to support this cause in any way possible, including donating office space, resources, or logistics.
The Legal Aid Commission remains committed to ensuring that no Ghanaian is denied justice simply because they cannot afford it.
