Breast Cancer Awareness: Early Detection Saves Lives  – Fiifi Otchere

Breast Cancer Awareness is done every year in the month of October to educate and encourage women on the essence of rigorous check ups for their breasts. The theme for this Pink October Month 2025 is, Early Detection Saves Lives.

Speaking on Kessben with Kwabena O. Dankwah, Fiifi Otchere, Medical Superintendent of Nkawie/Toase Hospital shared the theme for this year’s breast cancer awareness, which is “early detection saves life revealing that, most people lack certain knowledge about breast cancer and they are tasked to educate people on certain areas of breast cancer.

He emphasized the findings of the World Health Organization on non-communicable diseases, like Breast Cancer kills more people.

Fiifi again highlighted the need for women to do self-examination to be sure whether there is no tumor in their breast. By doing this, they need to do regular self-examination and should not wait for the cancer to go beyond control before seeking medical attention”

He said when one detects the cancer early, the treatment is less expensive and makes it easier to treat.
