NACOC Arrests British National, Two Ghanaians at KIA for Attempting to Import 38kg of Suspected Cannabis

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a British national and two Ghanaian accomplices at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for attempting to smuggle 38 kilograms of compressed substances suspected to be cannabis into the country. The arrest was made after security personnel intercepted two pieces of luggage containing 25 slabs of the illicit substance.
The suspects were apprehended during a routine inspection at the arrival terminal. Upon further examination, officials discovered the suspected narcotics concealed in the false compartments of the suitcases. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were working as a group to transport the substances, which were tightly wrapped and labelled in a manner consistent with international drug trafficking methods.
NACOC has confirmed that the substances will be sent to the Ghana Standards Authority for laboratory testing. The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say the arrests form part of intensified efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking through Ghana’s entry points.
