One of the biggest problems in our country is the cost of rent – Frederick Opoku

Secretary General for the National Tenants Union, Ghana, Frederick Opoku has shown his disappointment on the response given by the President, John Mahama on high cost of rent in Ghana during media encounter”
Speaking on Kessben TV with Kojo Preko Dankwah he shared that, one of the biggest problem in our country is the issue on the high cost of rent charges by landlord’s”
He said, the national tenants union were disappointed in the response given by the President on the growing concern on high cost of rent charges by landlords.
He asserts, the response of the President on the high cost of rent issue was not assuring.
Frederick classified President John Mahama response as biased, not for the masses and informal sector but for the formal sector including workers being paid monthly”
He again mentioned the exemption of the informal sector on the initiative given by the President to tackle high cost of rent in Ghana noting 99% of the informal sector neglected.
Frederick admits the President’s vision is centered on 1% of our population, which is the pension fund.
According to rent laws, every landlord needs to record the tenancy. He urged President John Mahama to fix the situation on rent control and to review the rent law to address these issues.”
