President Mahama Pledges Full Support for 100,000-Capacity National Service Poultry Farm

President John Dramani Mahama has announced comprehensive government backing for an ambitious national service poultry farm project that promises to transform Ghana’s agricultural landscape and serve as a model for West African nations.
During an inspection tour of the facility today Friday 12th September, 2025, President Mahama expressed his commitment to developing the farm into a world-class agricultural hub. “I promise to help you develop this poultry farm into a center of excellence,” the President declared, outlining his vision for the project’s future.
The President emphasized that the facility will serve multiple critical functions in Ghana’s agricultural ecosystem. “It will be both a producing farm, it will also be a training farm, and it will be a research farm,” Mahama explained, highlighting the comprehensive approach to agricultural development.
The project has already made significant progress, with current capacity reaching 70,000 beds out of the planned 100,000-birds facility. President Mahama expressed confidence in the project’s trajectory, stating his certainty that “soon they will work out to full capacity to be able to produce 100,000 birds to feed into the Ghanaian market.”
Demonstrating his personal commitment to the project, President Mahama revealed his plans to secure additional government funding through direct ministerial engagement.
“I told the Minister of Finance that I was coming on an inspection tour of this farm, and I shared with him the little that I heard about the farm,” the President disclosed.
The President outlined his strategy for securing crucial infrastructure funding: “As soon as he lands at the airport, I’m going to march him to this farm to come and see the good work you are doing here, so that when we send our request to him for the processing plant, the hostel, the vehicles, the solar power plants to boost electric supply, he will not hesitate in releasing the funds.”
President Mahama’s vision extends beyond Ghana’s borders, positioning the facility as a continental leader in agricultural innovation. “We will support you all the way. We’ll make this a model farm so that people will come from other West African countries to come and study what national service, a smell of Ghana and volunteers have done here,” he assured.
The project represents a innovative approach to national service, combining civic duty with agricultural development and skills training. By integrating national service personnel and volunteers into this agricultural initiative, Ghana is creating a sustainable model for youth engagement in the agricultural sector.
The facility’s planned infrastructure includes modern processing plants, accommodation facilities, transportation, and renewable energy systems, positioning it as a comprehensive agricultural development center.
This initiative signals Ghana’s commitment to agricultural modernization and food security, while creating opportunities for knowledge transfer across the West African region.
