Amenfi Clash: Amenfi East residents voted 100% in favour of their MCE – Nana Kofi Atokyi
Nana Kofi Atokyi,Amenfi East Constituency Chairman for NDC talks about the misunderstanding between the MCE and the Drip coordinator elected in the Amenfi East.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye Show with Kwabena Dankwa in Kumasi he said,they all need to offer their support when the president mentions someone’s name, trusting that he has identified a qualified Individual with admirable qualities.”
He stated that in Amenfi East, the Assembly members voted 100% in favor. As the chairman,he expected that even if he didn’t support a decision , at least one person would oppose it but in this case ,that didn’t happen for this reason, they had no further option since the president had already endorsed him”.
He complained that after casting their votes, he doesn’t consider their opinions or involve them in any further discussions.”
Nana Atokyi pointed out that the youth employment opportunity was supposed to go to the constituency youth organizer, but instead it was given to his associate, who is a branch organizer.They expressed their concerns but their opinions were ignored.”
He also mentioned that the MCE take decisions on his own without consulting the MP”.
Nana Atokyi stated that despite numerous discussions with the Regional minister ,no progress has been made leading to tensions between the mp ,executives and others.
He revealed that the Deputy Drip Coordinator visited Amenfi East to resolve a dispute between the elected drip coordinator who the MCE refused to work with and that the deputy drip coordinator required the presence of the Mp,the secretary and himself to settle the matter”.
Nana Atokyi reported that the Mineral Commissioner informed him that the MCE had assaulted the water guard and requested their presence to discuss the incident”
During the confrontation,one of the MCE’s associates slapped the elected Drip coordinator who was accompanying the MP”,he admits.
If the water guard hadn’t intervened,the situation could have escalated and might have been harmed by the Mce”, he states.
