I have 13 albums out, not 20 as widely claimed on the Internet, I take my time to do it properly – Legendary Kojo Antwi sets records straight

Ghanaian music icon Kojo Antwi took a moment to clarify a long-standing misconception about his discography, contrary to popular belief, he has released 13 albums, not 20.
“I have 13 albums out, not 20 as widely claimed on the internet. I take my time to do it properly” Kojo said in an interview with Mr Bonez on Kessben TV.
Known as “The Music Man,” Kojo Antwi is celebrated for his rich blend of highlife, reggae, Afro-pop, and soul. His timeless voice and emotive lyrics have earned him generations of fans across Africa and beyond. But while his impact on the Ghanaian and African music scene is indisputable, online sources have repeatedly inflated the number of albums he’s released over the years.
During his interview with Mr Bonez, Kojo Antwi explained the reasoning behind his careful approach to album production. For him, making music isn’t just about quantity, it’s about longevity, quality, and emotional resonance.
“I don’t rush to release albums just to stay relevant. Music is spiritual for me. I take time to let the message and melody mature,” he said.
For many fans who grew up with his music, this announcement may come as a surprise, not due to disappointment, but because Kojo Antwi’s 13 albums have had such a wide-reaching impact that they feel more abundant. His songs have defined weddings, political campaigns, heartbreaks, and celebrations. They’ve been sampled, covered, and endlessly played across the continent.
This is not the first time the “Adiepena” hitmaker has spoken about his meticulous approach to music. Over the years, he has consistently emphasized the importance of creative integrity, often choosing silence over saturation. While some younger artists churn out multiple albums or EPs yearly, Kojo Antwi’s legacy has been built on patience and purpose.
