Host of the Kessben Drive Time Show, Fante Quoo, has made a touching appeal to Ghanaians to rally behind Benjamin Asare, the Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper currently featuring for the Black Stars.
Despite being an openly passionate supporter of Asante Kotoko, Fante Quoo put aside club rivalry and tribal sentiments, emphasizing that Benjamin Asare’s place in the national team should be based on merit and performance, not on which club he plays for.
“I’m an Asante Kotoko fan, but let’s all support the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare at the Black Stars,” he stated on Tuesday’s edition of the show. “Let no one try to drop him when Ghana qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.” Fante Quoo said on his Show on Kessben FM after the Black Stars beat Mali 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Fante Quoo warned against the politics and favoritism that sometimes influence national team selections, stressing that Benjamin Asare has earned his spot through consistency, skill, and composure under pressure.
“Asare has proven himself. He’s not just in the team to make up the numbers, he’s delivering on the field. If we’re serious about going far at the World Cup, then players like him must be protected and supported,” he added.
As Ghana inches closer to booking a ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, calls like this are a strong reminder that the Black Stars belong to everyone, and that loyalty to the flag must come before loyalty to colors.
