Ministry of Trade Pledges to Drive Economic Growth

The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, has assured the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) of the Ministry’s commitment to fully implement its Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) for the 2026–2029 period.

Speaking at a certificate presentation ceremony in Accra on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Hon. Ahi stressed the importance of translating electoral manifestos into concrete programmes that consolidate government’s vision and drive economic growth. He noted that agribusiness remains a key pivot of the economy, and the Ministry is committed to developing initiatives that create jobs and generate resources.

“We are proud that our Ministry is among the first three to be awarded a certificate. This demonstrates the hard work and dedication of our technical teams,” he said.

The NDPC presented certificates to eight Ministries and two Regional Coordinating Councils whose plans met the Commission’s review requirements. Director-General of the NDPC, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, described the milestone as central to advancing the Resetting Ghana Agenda, while Commission Chairman, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, reminded institutions that certification was a prerequisite for budgetary allocation, declaring, “no certificate, no cash.”

The certified institutions commended NDPC for its support and called on the Ministry of Finance to ensure timely release of funds to facilitate effective implementation of the approved plans.
