President Mahama Declares Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Lands Commission

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning against corruption within the Lands Commission, declaring that such practices “will no longer be tolerated or treated indifferently” during the inauguration of the newly constituted Governing Board of the National Lands Commission on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the critical need for accountability and transparency in Ghana’s land administration system, which has long been plagued by corruption and public distrust.

Zero Tolerance Policy Announced:

“Corruption within the Lands Commission will no longer be tolerated or treated indifferently,” President Mahama stated firmly. “I expect the new Commission’s leadership to institute strict internal accountability measures. It must not shield corrupt staff or compromise your integrity.”

The President outlined clear expectations for the reformed commission, declaring: “Let this new commission be one of work ethic, transparency and discipline. The days of absenteeism in lands commissions, fire manipulation and deliberate delays to exact bribes must come to an end.”

Ambitious Reform Goals:

President Mahama set ambitious targets for the reformed institution, stating: “Our goal is clear. No land document should take more than 30 working days to process, and no Ghanaian should have to pay bribes or know someone at the top to be able to register their land.”

The President described the inauguration as marking “a critical moment in our national journey of reckoning and renewal,” emphasizing that it represents “not merely a statutory obligation.
