Late Daddy Lumba did not sing ‘Odofo Ambaa Ntem’ to shade Akosua Serwaa, his first wife, the song was made for one Georgina – DJ KA sets records straight

One song by the late Daddy Lumba that has stirred debate for years is the iconic ‘Odofo Amba Ntem’ often speculated to be a subtle jab at his first wife, Akosua Serwaa. However, renowned music analyst and DJ, DJ KA, has come forward to put those rumors to rest.
On his radio show on Kessben FM, DJ KA revealed previously unknown details about the song’s origins, clarifying that “Odofo Ambaa Ntem” was not written about Akosua Serwaa, but rather about a woman named Georgina, who played a significant role in Daddy Lumba’s life during a particular period in his musical journey.
For years, fans and critics alike believed that “Odofo Ambaa Ntem” which translates to “My Lover Did Not Come Early”, was a heartbreak anthem directed at Akosua Serwaa, Lumba’s first known partner and mother of some of his children. The lyrics, filled with emotional longing and hints of disappointment, led many to draw connections between the track and Lumba’s personal life.
But DJ KA insists the popular narrative is inaccurate. “People have long misunderstood this song. It wasn’t a diss or an emotional attack on Akosua Serwaa. The truth is, Lumba was inspired by his relationship with Georgina, a woman who, at that time, was very close to him but had certain habits that frustrated him emotionally, including not showing up when she promised,” DJ KA explained
He continued: “Georgina was not a public figure, so most fans never knew about her. But those close to Lumba during those years can attest that she was the true muse behind that song.”
DJ KA went on to analyze specific lines from the song, pointing out how the wording reflected a relationship that was more playful and romantic than resentful or bitter, a tone unlikely to be used if the song were indeed an attack on a former spouse.
DJ KA also emphasized Daddy Lumba’s enduring respect for Akosua Serwaa, despite their distanced separation. While their relationship may have gone through difficult phases, DJ KA notes that Lumba never publicly disrespected her, either in interviews or through his music.
