In Defense of Integrity: Setting the Records Straight on Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi

By Samuel Damte

It is becoming increasingly troubling how The Fourth Estate continues to circulate damaging and misleading reports against the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi.

The latest allegation suggests that he received GHS 8.2 million in allowances as a “volunteer” while serving as Director-General.

Investigations, however, reveal this claim to be completely unfounded and misleading.

Sources

Reliable sources within the NSA have explained that the E-ZWICH system mentioned in the report is an official corporate card of the Authority, designed for administrative purposes and used by successive Directors-General to facilitate statutory transfers.

A senior official who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the card in question does not bear Mr. Antwi’s name, rather it reflects the office of the Executive Director, now Director-General, of the NSA.

In any case, Mr. Antwi was duly appointed as Director-General, not as a volunteer as alleged in the Fourth Estate’s publication. If indeed such payments were made, why have the accusers failed to provide the specific bank account into which the supposed monthly volunteer allowance was paid?

Matter

What continues to stand out in this matter is Mr. Antwi’s calm and dignified response. Despite repeated attempts to tarnish his image, he has maintained restraint and chosen the path of composure and confidence in the truth.

This attitude, I must say, has earned him admiration from many who see in him the qualities of integrity, discipline, and genuine commitment to service.
It is important to mention that in moments when sensational journalism risks undermining public trust, citizens must remain discerning.

It is important to separate factual reporting from narratives deliberately crafted to mislead. Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi has served the NSA with dedication, and his legacy deserves to be remembered with fairness and respect.
