The Ghana Football Association (GFA), led by President Kurt Okraku, along with key members Mark Addo, Randy Abbey, and Henry Asante Twum, together with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, met with various corporate bodies in Ghana on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Kempiski Hotel, Accra. The meeting aimed to engage with these bodies to attract investment in Ghanaian football, aligning with the government’s vision for sports development.

The government’s vision for sports was recently re-echoed by the minister at the floor of Parliament, urging corporate bodies, both public and private, to actively support Ghanaian football through sponsorship, infrastructure investments, innovative collaborations, and campaigns that can drive the growth of the sport.

The following notable corporate entities were represented:

– Telecoms: MTN, who recently invested $2 million in a two-year sponsorship deal to support national teams, including the Black Stars, Black Queens, and Black Starlets.
– Energy Sector: GRIDCO, GNPC, Tullow Oil, Energy Commission
– Financial Institutions: Ghana Commercial Bank, Consolidated Bank, UMB, Access Bank
– Manufacturing and Media: Kasapreko PLC, SIC, Media General, Multi Choice, Tele Groups
– Government Agencies: COCOBOD, NLA, Ghana Pension Alliance Trust

The meeting requested the GFA to present a proposal outlining potential investment areas for the companies to consider for sponsorship. The minister requested company support for the National Sports Authority’s infrastructure development, with the minister tasked to prepare a proposal to that effect.

The GFA’s efforts to secure funding and support from corporate bodies demonstrate its commitment to boosting Ghanaian football. This partnership is expected to drive growth, improve team performance, and contribute to the country’s sports development goals.
