Asante Kotoko’s pursuit of talented midfielder Walid Fuseini, affectionately known as “Neymar,” appears to have stalled despite the technical team’s approval. Sources close to the club reveal that the management has raised concerns over several issues.
The main stumbling blocks include a clause in Neymar’s contract that would allow him to leave the club for any foreign offer, his hefty salary demand of Gh¢8,000, and the lingering tension between Kotoko and Nsuatreman FC following the tragic incident involving the late supporter, Yaw Frimpong “Poole.”
Given these concerns, the management is hesitant to proceed with the signing, despite the club’s initial interest in signing him – Walid was the first player on the radar of Kotoko after the 2024/25 league season. Neymar’s recent trip to South Africa for a potential deal with TS Galaxy, which ultimately did not materialize, further delayed the process.
