Boosting Food Security: Trade Minister commissions $3.5m fertilizer plant to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable agribusiness

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has inaugurated a $3.5 million fertilizer manufacturing plant established by Invess Agriculture Ltd, in a move aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agricultural productivity and food security
The plant, located at Shai Hills, within the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region was developed in partnership with Nitron Group and managed by AAA Infrastructure Ghana Ltd. The Plant is expected to produce 385,000 metric tonnes of granular fertilizer annually, alongside 20 formulations approved by COCOBOD.
The Trade Minister Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare commended Invess Agriculture Ltd. for the bold investment, describing it as “a decisive step toward sustainable agribusiness growth, job creation, and strengthening Ghana’s position in regional trade.” She assured that the plant’s output will help reduce dependence on imports while empowering farmers to increase yields
Following the ceremony, the Minister with her delegation joined Invess executives on a guided tour of the plant to observe its advanced blending and quality control systems in operation
The CEO of AAA Infrastructure, Mr.Patrick Ohene-Djan, emphasized the project’s alignment with government’s industrialization agenda and the 24-hour economy vision, adding that every shift and unit produced will have ripple effects across the economy, from employment to exports.
“Each shift undertaken, each unit produced, and every pound of fertilizer blended at our facility directly impacts families throughout Ghana, reinforcing the agricultural sector that underpins our nation’s future,” he said.
Invess Agriculture has also announced plans to establish a 5-million-litre liquid fertilizer plant to expand into the ECOWAS market, further positioning Ghana as a hub for fertilizer production in West Africa.
