There’s no single Galamsey activity at where the Helicopter crash occurred, They are all serious cocoa farmers – MP for Adansi Akrofuom, Hon Joseph Azumah sets record straight

The Member of Parliament for Adansi Akrofuom, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has firmly debunked circulating rumors linking the recent plane crash in the Adansi area to illegal mining activities, popularly known as Galamsey.

Speaking with Wofa Kofi Appiah on Kessben FM, the MP set the record straight, clarifying that the area where the unfortunate incident occurred is occupied predominantly by cocoa farmers and other legal agricultural workers.

Since the crash, speculation on social media and in some local reports had suggested that the aircraft might have gone down in a region heavily impacted by illegal mining operations, fueling fears that environmental degradation could have played a role in the accident.

“Let me be clear, there is not a single galamsey activity where this incident happened. That area is home to cocoa farms and hardworking farmers who have never been involved in illegal mining.” He said.

The MP emphasized the importance of protecting the reputation of the Adansi Akrofuom constituency, a region known for its agricultural contribution, particularly in cocoa production.

He noted that while illegal mining remains a challenge in some parts of the Ashanti Region, it should not be assumed to exist everywhere, especially without proper verification.
