14th UCMAS National Competition Brings Together Over 140 Schools across Ghana; urges parents to prioritize educational choices

The Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) host 14th Inter-Schools competition at Pentecost Convention Center -Kasoa with 3,000 pupils from Basic Schools all over Ghana displaying dexterity in mental arithmetic. Theme “UCMAS: A Requisite Medium for Training 21st Century Students to Solve Global Challenges.”

Maurya Education limited ,a leading skill development company, is hosting its 14th UCmas national competition, a brain development program that brings together children from over 140 schools across Ghana.

The competition, which is in its second day, features students from various regions, including Tamale, Bolgatanga, Takoradi, and Volta Region.

Speaking at the competition, Director of Maurya education UCMAS Ghana, Girish Gurbani, this year’s competition has introduced a new National League, where children will compete to take the champion title. The event aims to foster academic excellence, creativity, and skill development among Ghanaian children.

Maurya education’s programs, including UCmas and STEM Robot, focus on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and coding skills in children.

He said the company has been operating in Ghana for 18 years, providing world-class programs to schools and has collaborated with the Government of Ghana and Ministry of Education to improve education standards.

According to him, UCMAS is not just a math program, it is a visionary educational platform that builds the intellectual and emotional toolkit required for tomorrow’s problem solvers. Adding that UCMAS strengthens the right brain, responsible for imagination and intuition in a world that celebrates creators, this ability empowers students to innovate, not just imitate.

Roger Ohemeng, Business Development Director of UCMAS, has emphasized that the competition plays a significant role in sharpening students’ skills in mathematics.

Mr Ohemeng noted that the event has garnered increased commitment from parents and schools due to its positive impact on students.

According to him, the competition helps create problem solvers for both the country and schools. Ohemeng encouraged parents to enroll their children in the UCMAS program, citing its numerous benefits.

Some parents who attended the competition expressed their satisfaction with the program and urged the Ghana Education Service to incorporate it into the curriculum.
