Methodist Church Ghana Mourns Helicopter Crash Victims, Urges National Solidarity

The Methodist Church Ghana has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the lives of government officials and crew members on national assignment. In a formal condolence statement issued on Tuesday, the Church extended heartfelt sympathies to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, bereaved families, and the entire nation.
Describing the incident as a national tragedy, the statement—signed by the Presiding Bishop, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu—emphasised the fragility of life and called on Ghanaians to find comfort in faith.
“We are reminded that the God we serve is ‘a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ (Psalm 46:1). In this painful moment, we mourn as a people, but not as those without hope,” the statement read.
The Church offered prayers for the families affected and called for unity and reflection across the country, urging Ghanaians to honour the departed by fostering a spirit of national solidarity.
“May this loss unite us in national solidarity and reflection, as we entrust the souls of the departed into the eternal rest of our Lord,” the Presiding Bishop added.
The Methodist Church joins a growing list of institutions and citizens mourning the victims of the crash, which has shocked the nation and prompted calls for a swift investigation into the cause of the accident.
