Mahama Launches Cutting-Edge Aviation Systems to Boost Regional Connectivity

Ghana’s President H.E John Dramani Mahama has unveiled two transformative aviation projects aimed at positioning the country as a premier regional air transport hub.

“Today marks another milestone in our effort to strengthen Ghana’s aviation sector and project our country as a regional hub for safe, secure, modern air transport services.” President Mahama stated.

The ceremony featured the commissioning of an ultra-modern Air Navigation Services building and the launch of advanced passenger information systems.

“This is not merely the unveiling of an infrastructural project. It manifests our commitment to transforming aviation sector through strategic investments, digital innovation and global best practices,” President emphasized.

Key highlights include a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced air traffic management, communication, and surveillance systems. The President stressed that “Ghana has maintained a strong reputation for aviation safety and security in the West African sub-region,” attributing this to strategic investments in infrastructure and personnel.

A critical component of the launch is the Advanced Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record system, which the President described as “a technological and strategic leap forward.”

He noted that the system will “enable our security agencies to collect and process passenger data in real-time, identify potential threats before arrival or departure, and streamline immigration and custom procedures.

Looking forward, the government aims to expand the digital platform, with the President directing ministers to “implement the long-awaited E-Visa Services” and integrate systems across multiple international airports.

“I’m directing the Honorable Ministers responsible for interior, transport and foreign affairs to collaborate to ensure that this platform is expanded to enable us quickly implement the long awaited E- Visa Services for the country.” President Mahama added.

“The future of travel is digital, and Ghana must not be left behind,” President Mahama declared, underlining the country’s commitment to becoming a modern, efficient aviation hub.

The project, developed in collaboration with international partners like XCO of Japan, represents a significant step in Ghana’s vision to connect Africa to the world through safe, reliable, and innovative air transport services.
