Rocksure’s Bauxite Cancellation: Results of Prez Akufo Addo’s Terrible Precedent – Dr. Solomon Owusu, USA

The current government’s cancellation of the Rocksure bauxite deal is as a result of bad precedent set by Ex-Prez Akufo Addo on the Exton Cubic deal. His needless and unreasonable lawsuit against Exton Cubic and its subsequent cancellation of the bauxite business, based on lack of Parliamentary Ratification has similarly been used against Rocksure.

The same Supreme Court ruling has been applied to cancel the Rocksure bauxite deal. I personally don’t support any of these license revocations but *the law is the law!!* It’s about time we all realize that any ruling by the Supreme Court becomes a law and serves as a guide for subsequent circumstances, thereby directing how similar cases should be handled in the law court.

Exton Cubic rightfully passed through all the license acquisition processes and it left with only Parliamentary Ratification but the NPP government under the *Nebuchadnezzar Akufo Addo* filed a lawsuit for the Supreme Court to rule against Exton Cubic. Meanwhile, lots of mining companies were operating without Parliamentary Ratifications at that time but nothing happened to them.

*Let’s hope Ghanaian politicians will learn from this and depoliticize businesses, irrespective of who is in power.*
