OFFICIAL: I’m contesting as an Independent candidate in 2028 at Afigya Kwabre North & by 2040 I will run for president – Lil Win

Popular Ghanaian actor, comedian, and musician Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has officially announced his intention to contest for the parliamentary seat in Afigya Kwabre North Constituency in the Ashanti Region come 2028 this time, as an independent candidate.

Speaking on Kessben TV with host Mr. Bonez, the Kumawood star revealed that he had plans to run in the 2024 general elections, but after a conversation with the current Member of Parliament (MP), he chose to step back.

“I wanted to contest in 2024, but the MP spoke to me and I decided not to run,” Lil Win said.“But in 2028, I am contesting and this time, as an independent candidate.”

When asked why he chose to run as an independent candidate instead of aligning with a major political party like the NPP or NDC, Lil Win explained that he wants to remain neutral and free from the political baggage and promises that often restrict MPs.

He expressed his belief that politics should not be about colors or slogans, but about results and real impact in people’s lives, especially in areas like education, job creation, and infrastructure.

Afigya Kwabre North, a constituency in the heart of the Ashanti Region, has seen increasing demand for youth representation, economic development, and improved public services. Lil Win says he understands the challenges his people face because he grew up there and continues to support communities in the area through his foundation and school, Great Minds International School.

Lil Win admitted that his team had already begun consultations and plans ahead of the 2024 elections, but out of respect for the current MP and the conversation they had, he chose to postpone.
