Ghana-Morocco Cooperation: 2,000 Tonnes of Fertilizer Donation Strengthens Agricultural Development

On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra, Ghana, hosted a ceremony to receive a generous donation of 2,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer from the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco. The event brought together officials from both countries, including Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Hon. Okudjeto Ablakwa, and some staff of the ministry, the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Imani Ouaadil, and officials of the embassy, as well as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. John Dumelo, and some staff.
Ghana’s Foreign Minister’s Remarks
Hon. Okudjeto Ablakwa highlighted the crucial role of the Ministry in facilitating diplomatic relations between Ghana and Morocco, emphasizing that the donation was a testament to the impactful diplomacy of the Ministry. He stated, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs really engages in impactful diplomacy, and the work we do directly benefits peace.”
Moroccan Ambassador’s Remarks
Her Excellency Imani Ouaadil expressed her hope that the fertilizer would contribute to helping Ghanaian farmers improve crop production and meet the country’s food security goals. She described the donation as a symbol of the renewed friendship and bond of cordiality and brotherhood between the two countries.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture’s Response
Hon. John Dumelo received the donation on behalf of the Honourable Minister, Hon. Eric Opoku (MP), and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco for the timely and strategic intervention. He assured that the fertilizer would be deployed efficiently and transparently under the Feed Ghana Programme to reach the intended beneficiaries – Ghana’s hardworking farmers across the country.
